My journey into fashion began in childhood. I was raised in a traditional African household where self-expression was limited, and I was naturally shy and reserved. My mother, a seamstress and a entrepreneur of women’s dresses, introduced me to the power of clothing. Although tailoring was a part-time profession for her, fashion was her language. She dressed me with care, and through those moments, I discovered that clothing could transform confidence, posture, and presence.
When I was well dressed, I became more expressive and self-assured. Fashion gave me a voice before I fully understood my own. That experience planted the foundation for Liza Barray Fashion.

Over a decade later, my life journey led me to Europe, where I settled in the Netherlands. There, I fully integrated into European culture and traveled extensively across the continent, experiencing diverse traditions, aesthetics, and approaches to design. During this period, I also worked in thrift stores, where my entrepreneurial skills were shaped. Being immersed in second-hand fashion exposed me to garment quality, fabric longevity, construction techniques, and the value of timeless design. It deepened my appreciation for craftsmanship, sustainability, and intentional consumption—principles that now define the brand.

Living and working between Africa and Europe refined my vision: to create a brand that authentically blends both worlds.
